National Junior Honor Society members perform community outreach project.

Members of the Owen Valley Middle School National Junior Honor Society recently conducted a community outreach project by delivering Easter eggs to 25 homes throughout Spencer.  They worked together to fill over 1,200 plastic Easter eggs with candy, stickers, and small toys.  NJHS members traveled around Spencer to hide Easter eggs and leave Easter Bunny footprints for youngsters to find.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle school students.  More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Citizenship, and Character. Induction into the National Junior Honor Society is a prestigious distinction awarded only to the most deserving students.

Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but also challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.

Each year, following the NJHS national guidelines, Honor Society Chapters throughout the country collectively dedicate countless hours to school and community service projects as well as fundraisers for local, national, and international charities. Instilling these values early in life helps to lay the groundwork for a lifetime of service.
