OVMS teachers recently participated in professional development training to explore reading strategies that will help students interact with both fiction and non-fiction texts.
Presenter Collette Huxford-Kinnett shared strategies that teachers can use to provide an authentic purpose for students to read. Kinnett also provided teachers with reading strategies to use prior to beginning a non-fiction book. Teachers also learned numerous ideas for book engagement and understanding of text.
