early childhood

Welcome to Early Learning in Owen County! We are so happy you are beginning your child’s school journey with us! Our program philosophy is that even the youngest of children are always learning. We focus on a whole-child approach knowing that children learn best in an environment where they are happy, safe, and growth is fostered in all areas of their development. Instruction focuses not just on developmentally appropriate math and literacy skills, but also on cognitive, physical, and social-emotional skills. Our desire is that they are well prepared for the next step in their educational journey, as well as life beyond their time in our programs.

Our Early Learning program has been growing and we offer both Preschool and Pre-K programming. Our Preschool program is housed at Spencer Elementary School and is for children who are 3-4 years old, but will NOT have turned 4 by August 1 of the school year they are enrolling. Our Pre-K program has expanded and we now have classrooms in each of our four elementary schools. This program is for children who WILL have turned 4 by August 1 of the school year they are enrolling.

We are now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year.

Hello and welcome to Early Learning in Owen County! My name is Katie Edwards and I am the Preschool Coordinator for the district. I love Early Childhood education and learning.

Every day in Preschool and Pre-K is an opportunity to see children learning through intentional play opportunities, making connections to their environment, their teachers, and one another. I genuinely look forward to being a part of making your child's first school experience a positive experience for your family.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
