It is important to keep consistency for you students during these challenging times. We recommend creating a daily routine for your student. The schedule can be flexible to meet the needs of your family. The resources below may be helpful to incorporate into your daily routine. We will continue to add resources, so please check back. If your student's teachers have provided additional resources, you will continue to have access to those as well.

Reading
We are suggesting students read independently between 30-80 minutes per day, depending on their age. For students who are identified as highly capable, here are some ideas to challenge your student during this time of home learning.
Have the student read a different genre of book than they usually gravitate to
Increase the reading level of the book
Family book talks (share what your family is reading)
Students set up virtual literature circles (this keeps students connected and interested
Math
Student can differentiate their math instruction in the following ways:
Utilizing Khan Academy, students can try different computing courses that are offered, such as "Hour of Code" or "Computer Animation".
Completing logic puzzles or challenging word problems
Playing math or logic games
Measuring, building, or creating structures using materials around the home

National Association of Gifted Children: This article provides ideas and resources for families who are supporting virtual gifted learners.
Scholastic- Challenging Top Learners: This site provides ways for teachers and families to challenge highly capable learners in their studies.
Brain Teasers: This site provides students to think abstractly to solve brain teasing puzzles.
