Ideas For Home

  • Read together. Talk about the pictures in the book. Ask questions about each page. Ask your child to retell a story. Ask them what might happen next.

  • Use everyday tasks to learn language. For example, if you watch a movie together, talk about the characters, what happened, likes and dislikes, etc. If you go to the grocery store, talk about what you are buying, why, what you are planning on making, etc.

  • Add on to what your child says so that they can hear and learn new vocabulary words, concepts, and language structures.

  • Model good speech by speaking clearly to your child.

  • Play fun sound and rhyming games. Listen to rhyming songs and books. Make up silly rhyming words.
