Syllabus for Computer Science

Syllabus for Finite

Syllabus for Algebra II

Students in Computer Science and Finite should only have homework if they are absent. Those students have ample time to work in class.

Students in Algebra II will have regular homework assignments.

Mr. Hittle’s homework policy for math classes is as follows:

The first night a subject is covered, students get practice homework assignment. That assignment is graded strictly on completion. If it appears that the student has made an honest, good-faith effort to follow directions and complete the assignment, they will receive full credit, regardless of whether their answers are correct or not. These assignments, at a minimum, have their answers gone over in class so that students know which questions they missed and have an opportunity to ask questions. It is imperative that students try these problems and have their homework with them the day it is due, or spending class time going over that assignment is wasted. Since we generally go over these homework assignments together, they are not accepted late unless they are late due to an absence. These assignments are all listed in the category “Homework” on the weekly progress reports that are sent home.

The second night, after we have gone over the first homework assignment, students receive a second homework assignment that is collected and graded for correctness. We generally do not answer questions about that assignment. Once these assignments are graded and returned to the students, the students are permitted to do corrections on those assignments, provided that they copy the questions they missed to a different sheet of paper and completely rework them, showing all work. These graded homework assignments are all listed in the category “Quiz” on the weekly progress reports that are sent home.

All Algebra II students should have a weekly progress report on Monday that is supposed to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned to Mr. Hittle!

Semester grades will be calculated by weighting the first grading period 45%, the second grading period 45%, and the final exam 10%, except where otherwise dictated.
