Spencer-Owen Schools School Lunch Charge Policy
School breakfast and lunch accounts may be funded through multiple methods:
 
Cash or Check: Checks may be made payable to Spencer-Owen Community Schools. All checks must include a driver’s license number and current address. There will be a $27.50 fee for all returned checks. If paying cash, please place cash in an envelope with your child’s first and last name written on the outside.
 
Online Payments: Payments can be made online using EZSchoolPay.com. There is a $3.00 credit card processing fee when making payments that is paid to EZ School Pay. If you add money to multiple accounts, you will only be charged the fee one time.
 
No Cash Back: SOCS has a “No Cash Back” policy. All monies sent to school for lunch or given to cashiers in line will be applied
to your student’s lunch account. No change will be given. Cashiers do not have change.
We strongly discourage meal charges but we understand the occasionally emergencies may make it necessary.
 
Charges: All students will be allowed to charge reimbursable meals until they reach the charge limit. Middle School/High School charge limit is $5.
 
A La Carte items such as snacks, extra entrees, and extra milks cannot be charged.
Middle School/High School students will be advised when their balance is low or they have accrued a negative balance. They will have a charge limit of $5.
 
An alternate meal of a peanut butter sandwich, fruit, and milk is always available to students who don’t have money in theiraccounts and have reached the charge limit.
 
All Students- No charges will be allowed the last 10 days of the school year. At the end of the school year, a student’s balance will follow them to the next school year. This includes both positive and negative balances. Also, Free and Reduced student’s eligibility will carry over for the first 30 school days of the next school year.

Refunds of a positive balance for students leaving SOCS or graduating, may be issued. Please contact Central Office at 812-829- 2233 to make that request. Balances may also be transferred to siblings who remain in Spencer-Owen Community Schools by request.

All negative balances must be paid in full before graduation.
